Blogspot Style

Issue 50 November 2008

Fashion blogger, Jana Kossaibati has selected three fabulous outfits exclusively for emel. Introduce a spot of blog style to your wardrobe!

Jana Kossaibati, a 19 year old medical student, is the author of Hijab Style blog, which was recently featured in The Guardian. Having come across plenty of mainstream fashion websites, Jana sought to present a useful resource specifically geared towards women wearing hijab in the UK. She started blogging in September 2007 with the aim of helping Muslim women create modest outfits from high street clothing shops, without having to sacrifice their sense of style. Her blog also covers Islamic fashion shows and Muslim clothing designers, showcasing the way hijab is worn across the world, from Turkey to Malaysia to Dubai. She has prepared outfits especially for emel, using her particular flair for mixing and matching the hottest items around.

Evening Belle

Perfect for dining out, make a statement with this stunning silk dress. Wear over a pair of tailored wide leg jeans in a dark wash for a flattering silhouette. Go with minimal jewellery and accessorise with an embroidered clutch and corsage sandals.

Work Days

A basic black skirt can form the basis of many a work wear outfit. This season, add feminine detailing with a bow tie blouse. A printed silk scarf is an easy way to add a dash of colour, and compliment the whole look with this rich purple snakeskin bag.

Weekend Retreat

Tartans, plaid and checks are big news on the runways this season. Work this trend with a belted coat over flared jeans. Add stylish winter essentials like red leather gloves and tan boots to keep chills at bay.
