Just thought I’d drop you a line this lovely Monday morning. I’m looking ahead to… Ramadan!! Thinking about all the things I want out of this beautiful month, and reminiscing of previous years.
I’m also working towards the Ramadan issue of emel, looking at the lifestyle aspects. Here at emel, we thought we’d look at some elegant Abaya’s and hijabs, from timeless cuts to edgy newer designs. What are some of your favourite stores? Where did you buy your favourite abaya from?
With summer upon us, I’ve also started wearing more colourful floral scarves and figured, what better time to feature an array of different prints, colours and styles of hijab than in this issue. So what are your favourite colours or styles, and why? Where do you buy your hijabs?
Back to work… Over and out

Salaam aleikom. Where I live, there was nowhere to buy hijabs or abayas for a long time and unfortunately after about 6-7 months the new hijab shop is closing… I buy almost everything online, hijabs from UK based sites. http://www.muslimbase.com carries hijabs, clothing, books and other necessities. http://www.hijabstoreonline.com carries hijabs, pins and such – and they have fixed postage which I love as I don’t live in the UK. I recently bought some festive abayas from eBay, the seller was coolkaftans. I bought them for a wedding but intend to incha Allah wear them for Eid parties as well. I wish I could show them but don’t know if you want links posted here. The few abayas I have for everyday wear are plain so they are easy to match with printed hijabs. I also recently discovered velcro abayas (at hijabstoreonline) that are so easy to wear without underscarf but they cover a lot more than a kuwaiti hijab would.
