Welcome to emel.com

Welcome to emel.com

Congratulations. You have reached our new full content website at emel.com. We welcome you to the emel community and hope you find the new site a rich and inspiring site to visit.

emel has existed as a magazine for over five years. We have subscribers in over 60 countries and are distributed in the UK, USA, the Middle East and South East Asia. We will continue to produce our full colour, high quality glossy magazine every month and we know that people will continue to enjoy sitting down and relaxing with a copy. The page turning, magazine experience cannot be replaced.

We recognise however, that people consume their media in different ways, at different times. And we recognise that the internet has become an integral part of peoples' lives. People log on to their favourite sites during their lunch breaks at work, they watch their best loved TV programmes at a time to suit them, they listen to their favourite radio shows on the train to work having downloaded them from the internet the night before... The media industry has to keep up with the pace of technological change which drives our consumer habits.

As such, emel is responding to the needs and desires of our readers. We have become a global brand, we have to reflect our global audience. Therefore we have created emel.com, a full content website that will continue to develop as an online community.

Every month we will release the latest issue of emel, as well as an issue from our archive, so in time you will be able to access interviews with some of the biggest names in the Muslim community including Yusuf Islam, Tariq Ramadan, Hany El-Banna, Sami Yusuf, Salma Yaqoob, Hasan le Gai Eaton and many more. You will also be able to read interviews with other key opinion formers and personalities including the Archbishop of Canterbury - an interview which made worldwide headlines; Conservative party leader, David Cameron; poet, Benjamin Zephaniah; outstanding human rights lawyer Michael Mansfield QC; former MI5 spy Annie Machon; comedian and political satirist, Rory Bremner and a whole host of other interesting and compelling interviews.

We will also be making small films on the website, commissioning short radio broadcasts and asking YOU - the emel community - to participate in the site.

There is a lot of depth to the site and that will grow as we release more and more articles. You can leave comments on virtually every article. You can forward those articles to friends.

In time there will be book clubs, message boards, shops...

So enjoy the site and happy browsing.
